About DeepSeek

DeepSeek's public API currently lists two models: deepseek-flash (DeepSeek-V4.1-Flash, released 2026-09-10 and updated to version DeepSeek-V4.1-Flash-1017 on 2026-10-17; accepts image input) and deepseek-v4-pro (DeepSeek-V4-Pro-0813, text only). Both have a 1M-token context window, up to 384K output tokens and a thinking mode that is on by default and can be switched off. API prices depend on the time of day: off-peak rates are half the peak rates. Since 2026-10-17 the API also offers separate Search and Fetch endpoints backed by DeepSeek's own search engine, billed per request. The weights of both models are published on Hugging Face under the MIT License.
