grok-imagine-image-quality was introduced on May 6, 2026 as the Grok Imagine Quality Mode API for enterprise developers and teams, and requests to the retired grok-imagine-image-pro slug redirect to it. On September 2, 2026 xAI announced that the slug retires on November 2, 2026, after which requests are served by grok-imagine-image-2.0 with quality set to low. xAI recommends switching to grok-imagine-image-2.0 explicitly before that date.
